RV Vacation!!

Yesterday we got home from a 10 day vacation! We rented a RV (Cruise America has a special for one way deliveries for $12 a day!) and drove to Yosemite and then to Los Angeles to visit Michelle. This is us getting ready to leave last Saturday afternoon. :)

It was a 30 foot RV and the older 2 slept up top and Isabelle shared a full size bed with me for most of the time while Mark got the pull out seat...not so comfy for him.
It was great for the kids. They loved that they didnt need to be in their carseats and were able to move around (a little). And I loved that we didnt have to stop to go to the bathroom or worry about nap/bedtime, they just went to sleep when needed. :) The drive into California was a little crazy because the wind was so strong and coming head on. Needless to say our gas mileage was terrible, 6.5 miles a gallon!

We drove into the Yosemite area with no camping reservations (and everything full according to online booking). So we decided to take a chance and just see what we could get. We stopped in Wawona (about 45 minutes from Yosemite Valley) to check with camping reservations. Just a small little cabin and asked, By some random chance is there any campsites? She said there just happened to be one and that it was our lucky day. We were so excited!
The site was amazing. A river ran through the campground and our spot was perfect...no one was real close by so we didnt have to keep the kids too quiet. :)

The ranger who gave us the campsite warned about bears and how they can smell food from far away and to make sure we clean up and never leave food out. Oh, and that last night there was a mountain lion that was walking down the path of the campsite that is across the way from our site. The kids heard her tell us this news...and Dylan was so scared about getting out of the RV afraid something would get him!
We assured the kids that we were safe and that it was fine to get out and enjoy our site. But in all honesty when Mark said lets hang out by the fire tonight when the kids go to sleep, I was so scared. As soon as the sun went down I was ready to go in! :)

The kids entertained themselves by finding pine needles and small branches to make a fire. Isabelle was right along looking for stuff as well. This kept them busy for about a hour one morning.

I had planned all our meals to eat in the RV. We never ate out once on this section of our trip, it was super handy to just make whatever & have all our snacks with us all the time. Mark made dinner on the fire one night. He was tired of me taking pictures and made a silly pose for the picture of him cooking. :)

More pictures and details to come!
